Featured Project: Dot Enter, 5th IMC World Forum on Music

Dot Enter was commissioned as the opening ceremony of the 5th IMC World Forum on Music. The project explored the act of opening itself, deconstructing the apparent border, searching for different entries, moving from one perspective and portraying coexisting visions on the traditional act of opening. 

Ten top talents from five different conservatories around the world joined together to officially open the 5th IMC World Forum on Music in Brisbane.  Visit the project here

The Listening Museum
Vanessa Tomlinson

The Listening Museum was a site-specific investigation of sound in a multi-layered participatory journey through space and time. The event took place at Urban Art Projects, April 26th, 2013. Cows at the Beach 
Toby Wren

Cows at the Beach is a dynamic meeting of musical cultures. The music weaves the rhythmic intricacies of Carnatic music with the sophisticated harmonies of jazz within fluid and shifting forms and leaves ample space for virtuosic group interplay. The project has evolved since 2011, with Toby Wren collaborating with guest artists in Brisbane and Chennai, India. Visit the project here


Crawlers' Poetry 
Gerardo Dirié

Crawlers' Poetry is an improvisation with CIM for WX7 and moxeño by Gerardo Dirié performed during the MuTech Underground series ‘Musician & Machine’ at the Queensland Conservatorium.

To bE 
Stephen Emmerson

As part of the Kawai Piano Series Stephen Emmerson presented To bE: A contemplation, which explores the affects of the keys of b minor and E major. This  recital of contemplative music included pieces by Scarlatti, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann and Brahms. Visit the project here


The Con Artists
Stephen Newcomb

The acclaimed Queensland Conservatorium flagship jazz ensemble the Con Artists showcase Brisbane’s emerging jazz talent in this 18 piece big band formed by the illustrious John Hoffman. Under the direction of Steve Newcomb since 2013, the Con Artists regularly perform new work by up and comping composers and arrangers. Visit the project here


IMERSD Sound Lab 
5th IMC World Forum on Music

The IMERSD Sound Lab was a curated session during 5th IMC World Forum on Music in November 2013 in Brisbane. The project involved a room of international musicians playing together for the first time blurring the lines between composition, improvisation and performance. Visit the project here
